Now that people are making and trying to commit to their New Year Resolutions, one question to ask if you are a dog owner is if your New Year resolutions include your dog? If not, then why not? Your dog is an important part of your life and therefore should be part of your goals.
For me, I have certain New Year resolutions that involve my two dogs. I managed to keep most of my 2009 goals with them. One involved their hair. Lhasa apsos are high maintenance in grooming and if I’m a bit lazy, their hair can easily end up in mats and tangles. So I made sure that not only did they get a daily brushing, but I trim their hair to keep it medium length.
For 2010, I want to work on more training with my dogs. Chester needs a bit more socializing with other dogs, especially larger ones. So that means more time in the dog park. Roxie on the other hand, can lose a bit of focus outside. I will be working more with her on this. I also plan to take them to the next level in group training classes in the summer.
How about you? What would be your goals with your dogs for 2010? If you historically had problems in keeping your plans, here’s a good article on New Year Resolutions.
