Dog Potty Pads
Now that my video version of my book, ‘Potty Train Your Puppy With A Litter Box – Convenient House Training For Dogs‘ is currently undergoing production, there will be a mention of dog potty pads in the video much like they were in the book. Since these are now readily available at many pet supply stores, I thought that it was important to mention them and what place they might have in dog litter box training.
Personally, I always bypassed the use of dog potty pads since I went from newspapers right to the dog litter box for my Lhasa Apso dogs without any problems. However, I do recognize that they are much less messy than newspapers if one is willing to spend the money on dog potty pads. They can also be used to line the bottoms of indoor potty systems for dogs.
Weigh The Costs Of Dog Potty Pads Vs Newspapers
Dog potty pads will also help protect the floors much better than newspapers and they absorb odour better but again, they do come at a cost. Newspapers are less expensive and if you use the junk papers that are often delivered to residential houses, the cost is free.
So it’s a matter of weighing the costs of dog potty pads versus newspapers over time. For my system of dog litter box training which is outlined in my book and will be clearly explained as well in my upcoming video version, the use of dog potty pads is completely optional. I never used them for my dogs at all.
